Tech: Apple is putting the finishing touches on its $5 billion campus — including private basketball courts (AAPL)

Image
Paths are being paved, trees are being planted, and auxiliary buildings have been finished in the latest drone video from videographer Matthew Roberts. Employees started to move into Apple Park in April, and landscaping was supposed to be finished by the end of June. However, the work at this point is mainly ornamental — there are no more road closures around the construction site. Apple opened part of its new $5 billion headquarters to the public in September but kept other parts of the campus off-limits. Journalists and analysts attended Apple's iPhone event at the company's new Steve Jobs Theater, but they didn't get a close look at the complex's main building, a ring one mile in circumference that has been nicknamed the "spaceship." Luckily, we have drone pilots to give us a closer look: Apple CEO Tim Cook once estimated Apple Park cost $5 billion to build. play Apple CEO Tim Cook once estimated Apple Park cost $5 billion to build. Ijemo: The 'Fleet Street' of Abeokuta Where Journalists Are Called 'Bombers' and Feared

Image
ijemo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, is one of the communities in Egba Ake. The area, located not far from the Alake’s Palace and the first church in Nigeria – St. Paul Cathedral, Ake – is renowned for its rocky terrains. In fact, the preponderance of rocks and boulders in the locality made drilling of boreholes and wells an Herculean task. No wonder, it demanded the construction cum technology savvy of the construction company, which handled the road expansion in the area, to unearth the plethora of rocks deposited in the axis. But one unique feature of Ijemo is that it shares a similarity with the Fleet Street, the journalism headquarters in London. As the latter is famous for being home of major newspapers in the UK, the former hosts the offices of several national newspapers in Nigeria. Ijemo is synonymous with newspaper distribution, where various sales representatives of newspapers hobnob with the vendors. Apart from that, correspondents use to converge on Ijemo for their act

At the 2014 World Cup, the Super Eagles skipped a training to protest the non-payment of bonus for qualifying for the tournament forcing the country’s sports minister to fly out by private jet to pay them almost $4 million cash in Brazil. Rohr said he believes the three-time African champions can improve on their best World Cup performance of a Round of 16 by better and early preparation as well as ensuring money issues are sorted out well in advance. Nigeria will be paid a total of $12.5 million by FIFA for qualifying for Russia 2018 with $2.5 million of this amount paid for the Eagles to prepare adequately for the football showpiece. They will earn more cash should they reach the knockout rounds of the tournament as they have done in 1994 and 2014. Nigeria have so far used a total of 37 players for the qualifying tourna

PHOTO: Netherlands Prime Minister rides bicycle to Royal Palace

Image
A photo of a cycling Netherlands Prime Minister that could make Nigerian politicians grin like a Cheshire cat has gone viral on the Internet. Mark Rutte, who has led Netherlands since 2010, rode on his bicycle to the palace of the King of Netherlands for a meeting on Saturday. A photo showed him locking his bicycle upon arrival at the palace with palace guards manning the entrance already adorned with red carpet. Netherlands, a country of over 17 million, is said to have more bicycles than persons. Bicycle, which is one of the most healthy and Eco-friendly modes of transportation, has been popular among the Dutch for decades. Mr. Rutte’s frequent use of bicycles rather than the cliched bulletproof automobiles popular among political officeholders underscores a lifestyle of humility even in a country that is ranked among the wealthiest in the world. In contrast, a typical Nigerian president  could have up to 40 cars in his convoy  while some governors have as much as 20 c
