Nnamdi Kanu not in custody of Military, DHQ tells IPOB

THE Defence Headquarters, Friday, declared that it does not know the whereabouts of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. Chinese authorities are reportedly stepping up their campaign against Muslims in the north-western region of Xinjiang. According to sources in the region, officials have been warning neighbourhoods and mosques that ethnic minority Muslim families are being forced to hand in religious items including the Koran and prayer mats. An Army Captain, Dogari Kefas Apyeyak who was killed by armed robbers along Kaduna-Brinin-Gwari road on September 10, 2017 has been laid to rest amid tears. He died less than two months to his wedding and was buried in his country home, in Ussa area of Taraba State with full military honours. It was gathered that the army officer was ambushed by armed robbers on his way to Ilorin where he was attending a French Course at the Nigerian Army School of Education Sobi Barracks in Kwara. An Artillery Officer rerolled to play infantry roll in the North-east with 192 Bn at Gozwa, the young officer was courageous in his fight against the insurgents in the North-east to ensure the sovereignty of our dear country. He was indeed a professional soldier. The late officer was born on July 31, 1984 in Kano to the family of MWO Dogari Emmanuel Apyeyak. A Kuteb by tribe, and hails from Lissam, Ussa, Taraba State. It was an horrible end for a Nigerian student after she reportedly jumped to her death from a bridge in the UK. The university student leapt to her death off a bridge after taking a taxi there with a pal, an inquest heard yesterday. The brilliant lady identified as Lara Nosiru, 23, took LSD before going to Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol with fellow student Kasumi Kishi, according to Sun UK. Narrating how it happened, Ms Kishi said... She had hoped to convince Lara not to kill herself. CCTV showed she twice pulled her from the edge before walking away. Police looked at charges including assisting suicide but ruled no offence was committed.  But last night Lara’s mum Olu, 50, from South Ockendon, Essex, blasted Ms Kishi, saying: “She could have saved [my daughter].” The Avon and Somerset coroner ruled that Lara took her own life while under the influence of drugs.

Flood Sacks 12 Cross River Communities, Destroys 3000 Farmlands

Many residents in 12 communities in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State have been rendered homeless with over 3000 farmlands  destroyed  by devastating flood following two days of heavy downpour. The incident which occurred between September 18 and 19 has also left properties worth millions of naira and thousands of economic trees destroyed. The disaster which affected bridges that connect some communities to other parts of the local government also polluted the only stream which serves as the source of drinking water in the area. Boki is found in the Central Senatorial District of the state and its indigenes are mostly farmers who deal in cocoa, palm kernel, plantain amongst other crops. The affected communities are Bago, Unu, Bagabo, Bakie, Bufua, Kakwe-Beebo and a host of others. Police Arrests Man Who Helped Rescue Kidnapped Victims Inside Creek

Residents of Igando area of Lagos were shock after police from arrested a young man simply known as ‘Egbon’, who led the Vigilante group to the creek and exposed the kidnappers den which led to the rescue of seven victims. The arrest and detention of Egbon had triggered negative reactions especially from those living in Akesan, Egan Igando and Badore areas who knew the role he played in unmasking the criminals. According to PM Express,  the police were not happy that Egbon took the vigilante group to the creek instead of the police where seven victims were recently rescued . The vigilante group also recovered arms, handed them over to police and the kidnappers were temporarily dislodged. The police has turned now to allege that Egbon knew too much about the activities of the kidnappers and therefore must be among those who collect ransom for the kidnappers.  During a visit to Igando Police Division, the DPO was said not to be around but the young man was still detained

Ex PDP Boss, 2 Others Remanded In Prison Over IDPs Food

A Federal High Court in Yola has ordered the  remand  of former Adamawa PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abdurrahman Bobboi, in prison for allegedly diverting food meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Also remanded were Mr Sanda Lamurde, a former Commissioner for Finance, and Feredan George, a former Chief Store Officer of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). Justice Bilkisu Aliyu gave the order on Wednesday, at the hearing of a case of alleged forgery and stealing brought against the trio by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). The accused are facing 16 charges bordering on forgery, theft and fraud. According to the EFCC Counsel, Mr Abubakar Aliyu, the suspects were arraigned following a petition received from members of Agricultural Transformation Agro-Allied Farmers Cooperative Union, Adamawa chapter. An office assistance, Ifeanyi Anyanwu, who absconded to Calabar after stealing his employer’s $12,000 and gave his girlfriend N700,000, was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos magistrate’s court. 28yrs old Anyanwu, who was working at a financial services company, is standing trial on a count charge of theft. The defendant, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was remanded in prison custody till October 31, for facts and sentence.  The prosecutor, Friday Mameh, told the court during arraignment that Anyanwu committed the alleged offence while he was working with the complainant, Mr. Olalekan Salami, a financial analyst. He said the incident occurred on Furo Ezimora Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area. Mameh said the defendant stole $12,000, equivalent to N4.5 million, belonging to the complainant, saying “the defendant was arrested through the help of his girlfriend in Calabar, who had gone to withdraw the N700,000, that she deposited in he

Former Bank Manager, 3 Others Arraigned for N72m Fraud

The EFCC on Wednesday, September 27, arraigned four suspected fraudsters Sani Abubakar, Abubakar Abdullahi, Mainasara Kallamu and Abdulrazaq Abdullahi before Justice Ibrahim Kangiwa of the Kebbi State High Court on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery obtaining by false pretence and issuance of a dud cheque. The accused persons allegedly conspired together and diverted N32,000,000 (Thirty-Two Million Naira Only) being a balance of the eight hundred units of motorcycles worth N72,000,000 (Seventy-Two Million Naira) belonging to the complainant, one Ibrahim Iron by falsely claiming that the motorcycles were meant for the Nigerian Union of Teachers. The trial continues. 

More revelations emerge in Customs’ seizure of 1,580 arms

Revelations have continued to trail Great James Oil and Gas Limited, the company linked with the illegal importation of 1,580 guns into Nigeria. On September 11, the men of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted a 20-foot container at the Tin Can Island Port with 1,100 pump-action rifles concealed in wash basins. 8 days after this discovery, another container was found at Tin Can Island Port with 470 pump-action rifles concealed among small connecting pipes. While addressing journalists on the seizure, the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), said the rifles were falsely declared as elbow plumbing plastics. He named Great James Oil and Gas as the owner of the two containers and the firm that imported the 1,580 guns from Turkey into the country. Ali had earlier hinted that the pump-action rifles were written under product description on the original bill of lading for the consignment, noting that the importer in connivance with the clearing agent had
